Mural for the Cook + Phillip Park Pool (near St Mary's Cathedral, Sydney).
The set of murals portray highlights from the career of Australian swimming sensation Annette Kellerman (1886-1975). Described as "Australia's Mermaid" , "Neptune's Daughter" and "the perfect woman".
Kellerman was a champion marathon swimmer, aquatic entertainer in vaudeville and a star of silent film. Her Australian background was part of her appeal; she would shout "cooee" before diving into a pool at the London Hippodrome.
The eight murals are painted in acrylic on specialy made GRP panels, they measure 3.1 x 4.8 meters each.
